Because the ink layer of gravure printing is thicker than offset printing, after one-color printing, a drying system must be used to quickly evaporate and dry the ink solvent on the printed matter, so that the ink is fixed on the substrate. Each color must be dried, and ensure that the drying speed of the ink matches the printing speed.

The drying method of gravure printing is generally hot air drying. This drying device consists of a heating device, a ventilation device and an exhaust port, etc., and the hot air drying room is formed. Control the drying speed by adjusting the air volume. With this drying device, the deformation of printed sheets is small, which is conducive to ensuring the quality of printing. After the printed sheets are dried by hot air, they should generally be cooled by a cooling roller.

At present, the drying heat source of the gravure printing machine mainly has the following options:

1) Drying process through heating of electric heating tube;

2) Drying process through high-temperature steam;

3) Drying process through coal-fired boiler;

4) Drying process by burning diesel;

5) Use Covio hot air dryer as the heat source for the drying process.
