Activision Announces Skylanders Series Revenue Breaks $2 Billion

Activision is not only one of the world's largest gaming companies, but also one of the world's largest toy companies.

Recently, the publisher revealed that its Skylanders series has exceeded $2 billion since its inception in 2011. Although a large part of this revenue comes from game sales, the company announced that Skylanders' sales and surrounding sales have also exceeded 175 million.

Skylanders is a children's game that connects physical toys to the digital world. Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, Skylanders: Giants and Skylanders: Swap Force can be connected to the Portal of Power via a USB port. Players can interface the corresponding Skylanders toys and immediately operate the corresponding characters in the game. Activision confirmed that a new Skylanders game will be released this year, and Toys For Bob, the developer of the series, is working hard to develop new games for 2014.
