For connections, it updates bolt and weld specifications, ensuring they are consistent with current engineering practices and safety standards. New sections on steel tube structures and composite beams have been added, reflecting the growing use of these systems in modern construction.
Furthermore, the code introduces stricter requirements for welding, including adjustments to weld size, leg length, and spacing, based on both domestic and international research. It also provides clearer guidelines for the use of fillet and butt welds, as well as improved criteria for the thickness of welded components to prevent brittle failure.
