Revision of National Standard for Corrugated Box (2)

The effect of packaging depends on the overall packaging design. Corrugated cardboard boxes are only one of them. Due to the characteristics of paper products, its strength is limited. The standard cannot specify the properties that cardboard cardboard boxes cannot achieve, such as resistance to reloading and dropping. It is a package to achieve. Only by carton can not complete these tasks. Therefore, the role of packaging design is very important, designers can calculate, test, and design a reasonable package to meet the packaging requirements.
For example, if you want to improve the carton compressive performance, you can add supportive accessories to the inner wall of the box. A well-designed box shape, geometric dimensions, printing position, punching, and clasping the hand will increase the strength of the carton. Filling the buffer material inside the box, reasonable stacking, and transportation methods will improve the packaging effect of the carton. People often only recognize the use of good raw materials to increase the strength of cartons, and ignore the importance of rational design of packaging. Therefore, in revising the standards, we should pay attention to this point, give people the choice, do not guide people to blindly pursue high-strength packaging materials, and should devote more efforts on packaging design.
Corrugated cardboard, corrugated box standards can only be used as a basic standard for packaging materials and packaging containers. Because of the diversity of commodities, the complexity of packaging materials “packaging product standards” cannot replace “product packaging standards”. Each product should be based on its own product characteristics, value, transportation, storage methods and environmental conditions, and circulation time. Develop your own product packaging standards.
3 Understanding the Moisture Content of Standards The moisture content of corrugated board has been discussed for many years. To properly stipulate this index, we must first understand the influence of moisture content on corrugated board and the significance of this index as defined in the standard.
I think there are two points in the meaning of the moisture content in the standard: First, the moisture content is used to explain the various strength indicators corresponding to the state of the cardboard. We know that paper materials are hydrophilic, and their moisture content has a great influence on strength. Due to the influence of the external environment, the moisture content in paperboard is changing at any time. With the change of moisture content, it also causes the strength of paperboard. Variety. If only the intensity index is specified in the standard, and it is not specified in what state the measured object is measured, it is one-sided and the operation cannot be strictly performed in the detection. Therefore, the moisture content specified in GB6544-1986 is in the same table as the other indicators, and is measured after standard environmental treatment. The correlation between them can be seen. Look at foreign standards, such as Japanese standards. It is unscientific that GB/T 6444-1999 deletes the moisture content in the table. It does not fully understand the significance of the moisture content of the corrugated board. Therefore, when the proposal is revised, the moisture content in the table must be added.
GB/T 6444-1999 specifies the moisture content of corrugated paperboard at the time of delivery. Its significance is not significant and it is not easy to operate when testing. As far as packaging, storage and transportation methods specified in the standard are concerned, there is no guarantee that the moisture content of corrugated board will not change. Corrugated board is different from paper products. When it is processed in tons, it will not cause any supply or demand due to the problem of moisture content. Because of the loss, it is not necessary to specify the moisture content of the delivery. The actual effect of the moisture content of the corrugated cardboard on the cardboard is the process such as grooving, indentation, printing, and nail box when entering the next process. Corrugated cardboard is too dry and too wet to handle. For a corrugated box, its moisture content will affect the operation of the packaging and the impact on the contents, such as cracks, moldy, deterioration of the contents. These are all conditions of use, and it should be specified in the standard that corrugated board should be grooved, indented, printed, or used for packaging at % moisture content.
4 Appearance detection Corrugated cartons play a role in protecting the goods while they are in circulation. On the other hand, they also play a role in the Promotion of goods. Different packaging, different packaging purposes, and appearance requirements are also different. Therefore, the requirements for appearance should be different in the types 1, 2 and 3 cartons. The appearance quality requirements for export packaging, valuable commodity packaging, and sales packaging should be strict. For short-distance transportation, the appearance requirements of cheap commodity packaging should be slightly looser to save costs.
The current corrugated box standards have some descriptive provisions on appearance. I think it is not enough. Some projects must also have quantitative requirements, otherwise they cannot be tested. For example, the standard stipulates that "the squareness of the box" and "the distance from the nail are uniform." In the end, what is called Founder? How much is the difference in the "nail distance"? There is no uniform measure on the test. In particular, when quality disputes occur, the inspection personnel are at a loss and cannot make fair and reasonable judgments.
Different appearance items have different effects on the quality of corrugated boxes. Some appearance defects only affect the appearance and some appearances affect the internal strength of the cardboard box. If the printed words and figures are wrong, the entire batch of cartons cannot be used, even though other items are reasonable. Therefore, appearance items should also be treated differently. If “two unqualified items are found, then the unqualified box is determined,” the appearance criteria should not be determined based on the severity of appearance defects.
5 About the shelf life of cardboard and cartons The main raw materials, corrugated cardboard, corrugated cardboard, and adhesives used in the manufacture of corrugated cartons are subject to changes in the environment at any time. With the increase of production and storage time, the strength will be reduced, or it will lose moisture and crack, or deterioration, affecting the use. In the supervision and inspection work, the quality disputes between the supply and demand sides are often encountered. The cartons that have been stored for many years are taken for inspection because the standard does not specify the shelf life, and the test results do not represent the condition of the carton transaction. It is very difficult. Therefore, when the standard is revised, it is necessary to consider adding a shelf life.
These are some of the views on the revision of corrugated paper boxes and other national standards in their own packaging inspection work. Improperly, experts and peers are requested to give corrections and hope that the standards can be revised and improved in a timely manner.
