With the advancement of computer technology, it has become feasible to solve complex mathematical models quickly. Internationally, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has been widely used to simulate the entire spray drying process, leading to significant progress. Numerous studies have focused on developing, refining, and calibrating CFD models, as well as exploring new types of drying towers, horizontal spray drying systems, centrifugal spray drying, and large-scale industrial pressure spray drying.
The research results show that commercial CFD software can effectively analyze temperature, velocity, and humidity fields within the drying tower, as well as track the movement and changes in temperature and moisture content of the material. To better understand droplet drying behavior, custom user programs may also be added for more detailed analysis.
