The third-party payment licensing was finally cashed on May 26 after repeated "jumping tickets", 27 companies won the license, of which 24 were qualified for Internet payment business, 12 were qualified for telephone payment business, and 9 received prepaid cards 15 licenses were issued, and 15 of them obtained bank card acceptance qualifications.
After the business licenses are used by various companies, the layout of third-party payment industry companies in related fields may accelerate, and the industry map will usher in reconstruction and extension.
License details
From the perspective of subdivided licensing areas, as the leader of the B-end business and the C-end business, Kuaiqian and Alipay are the companies with the most approved business licenses and become the biggest winners in this round of licensing. In the five sub-business licenses of currency exchange, mobile phone payment, fixed phone payment, prepaid card issuance and acceptance, and bank card receipt, fast money only lacks prepaid card business, and Alipay only lacks fixed phone payment.
Among the 27 first batch of licensed enterprises, except for Beijing Digital Wangfujing, Beijing UnionPay Commercial and Beijing Lakala which did not apply, all of them were successfully approved for internet payment.
In addition to the Internet form, mobile and fixed-line payments have become another major form of payment. Prior to this, Kuaiqian, Huanxun, Yibao payment, etc. have all vigorously promoted the realization of bank account transfer services through voice services. After the licensing, a total of 12 companies were allowed to enter this field.
In the field of prepaid cards, the central bank's licensing standards have narrowed significantly. The day before the issuance of the third-party payment license, the Central Bank and other seven ministries and commissions issued documents that set the real-name system and issuance denomination restrictions for the prepaid card industry. In the end, 9 companies including Alipay and Shangfutong were awarded licenses.
It is worth noting that in the context of the integration of the three networks, new payment forms based on converged products are gradually growing. This time, Alipay, Tenpay and Online Banking have applied for digital TV payment licenses, but none of them have been approved. It can be seen that the central bank is still cautious about the approval of payments in this emerging field.
New pattern vision
After the issuance of licenses, the new pattern of the third-party payment industry is gradually evolving.
In addition to penetrating into traditional industries, different payment companies' business for enterprise users and individual users has shown different evolutionary trends.
Kuaiguan, CEO of Kuaiqian, pointed out that the structure of payment companies in two directions has gradually emerged, including user sticky platforms represented by Alipay and Tenpay, and open platforms represented by Kuaiqian and Yibao. .
He believes that payment companies represented by Alipay and Tenpay will gradually lean towards service companies in the future. The payment companies represented by Kuaiqian will expand their services for individual users after establishing a development strategy for tailor-made payment services for enterprises.
The industry has generally predicted that after the license is issued, the payment industry will undergo the process of industry resource integration and reorganization. In fact, this trend may have emerged. Shanghai UnionPay Electronic Payment Co., Ltd., which was once included in the first batch of 17 publicly announced companies at the end of 2010, did not appear on the list of licensed companies. It is reported that the company will integrate into the bank and contact another UnionPay business in Shanghai.
At the same time, new payment forms are gradually evolving. Although digital TV payment licenses have not yet been issued, related industry forces have been saving. At the end of 2010, UnionPay Business under UnionPay reached a cooperation with SMG and announced the joint creation of bank card TV payment products and standards.
Recently, Liu Fengjun, assistant president of China UnionPay, revealed that China UnionPay is already working on the construction of payment channels for broadcasting and television networks. And Lakala has also begun to carry out IPTV set-top box payment promotion activities in pilot cities such as Jiangsu.
