In general, about 800 lux (lx) or 80 foot (ft) candlelight illumination is required around the press. This lighting condition allows the operator to see the situation around the press. Many color printers now use color observation devices. However, it is necessary to prevent procurement or self-made poor quality color observation rooms from being used in the printing shop. In the course of use, the observation room must be changed every 1500 hours.

When using A1 and above format printers, the lighting requirements for each printing unit will be higher to ensure that the operator can see the water in the blank area on the printing plate, which requires good lighting can pass through the machine Cover. At present, many workers working on sheetfed and web presses have high-power fluorescent lighting fixtures with shields, and some use small condenser light sources. When the printing press stops working and the protective device is lifted, it is a good idea to install a fluorescent tube in the machine housing in order to provide good lighting between the units. Some printer manufacturers have adopted this design. In addition, the lamp in this location is very useful when cleaning the plate and installing the blanket.
