Yesterday marked the fifth and final day of the IOC assessment team's visit to Beijing and Zhangjiakou as part of the joint bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics. Following a successful presentation meeting, the Beijing Winter Olympic Committee held a closing ceremony and a press conference with the assessment team in the afternoon. This concluded the evaluation mission in China, marking an important milestone in the bidding process. According to the official Beijing Winter Olympics website, during the closing ceremony, 20 primary school students performed a song titled "Wish," which was specially dedicated to Shen Dongao. The song symbolized hope and dreams for the future of the Winter Games. As a token of appreciation, the Beijing Winter Olympics Committee presented the musical score of the song to the IOC assessment team. Throughout the five-day visit, the assessment team attended 14 presentations and conducted on-site inspections of both competition and non-competition venues in Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou. They raised over 150 questions, which were thoroughly addressed by the Beijing team. After completing their evaluations, the IOC will compile a comprehensive report based on the bid application submitted by the city. The final evaluation report is expected to be published on the official IOC website in early June. In the afternoon press conference, the assessment team chairman, Zhukov, summarized the inspection. He stated, “I can’t predict the outcome of the vote in July, but I want to emphasize that the Olympic spirit demonstrated during the 2008 Beijing Games still lives on. This spirit will continue to inspire future generations.
