Montblanc was inspired by the 1930s Mina's classic chronograph and launched the new 1858 series chronograph stopwatch (100 limited editions). It is the first time to combine a bronze case with a new salmon dial to highlight outstanding vintage aesthetics.
Montblanc’s watchmaking history can be traced back to 1858, when Minerva was just built. Since the establishment of Villeret in Switzerland, Minai Watch has become a world-renowned Swiss watchmaker with its precision timing function. Since 2007, Montblanc has been devoted to exploring the watchmaking tradition of Minerva. It has found inexhaustible creative inspiration from the functions of historical classic watches, mechanical craftsmanship and design specifications.
The new Montblanc 1858 Series Chronograph (limited to 100 pieces) is a tribute to the 1930s iconic Minerva chronograph. The bronze case of this watch has a diameter of 44mm and is retro-styled in a modern way, demonstrating Montblanc's 100-year brand spirit. By using metallic bronze, Montblanc blends traditional Swiss watchmaking craftsmanship with authentic classical watchmaking materials. From the study of bronze, we found that after years of wearing, this perfect alloy material will gradually evolve a unique, uniform and charming copper green color.
For the first time, Montblanc created a retro salmon-inspired sun-textured dial to commemorate the Minaihua antique timepiece that also holds this color dial. The new Montblanc 1858 chronograph chronograph (100 limited editions) features a cloisonne cathedral-style luminous pointer with elegant and more readable blue seconds and seconds hands, luminous Arabic numerals, and classic track-type minute markers. The Montblanc emblem above the dial adopts the trademark style used by the brand in the 1930s: the text written in historical fonts is inlaid with the Mont Blanc peaks, creating a nostalgic design.
The core of this watch is a traditional Miophan MB M16.29 manual winding single-button chronograph movement equipped with column wheel, horizontal disc clutch and "V" timing bridge, large screws The fine balance balance wheel operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour. Montblanc MB M16.29 movement continues the style of large pocket watch, and its design inspiration comes from the 17.29 pocket watch and wristwatch movement originally designed by Minai Watch Factory in the 1930s. The new movement is based on the 17.29 movement structure, supplemented by hand-made Geneva corrugated, rotating looping patterns and rose gold parts. The new look perfectly matches the bronze vintage style of the watch and the salmon dial. Like other Minaihua movements, one of the movement components was built into the iconic small arrow shape of Mei Nai Hua to commemorate the time-honored and brilliant watchmaking tradition of the Mei Nai Watch factory.
The new crocodile leather strap with a vintage style watch was hand-crafted by the Montblanc Pelletteria leather workshop in Florence, Italy, and satin-brushed bronze-plated pin buckles for retro aesthetics.
