1. IMD products

IMD (In Mold Decoration), in-mold decoration, including IML, IMR, IMF three technologies.

Among them, IML (In Mold Labeling) is an in-mold label, a technology developed by P&G and has been in place for more than 40 years. Its main features are one-piece molding with the object, suitable for wet and low-temperature environment, aesthetics, and environmental protection, and is currently used in many fields such as bathroom and toilet supplies, frozen food, and beverages. IMR (In Mold Roll) is a thermal transfer injection molding process in which a printed pattern on a film is transferred to a solid container in a mold. The principle of IMF (In Mold Film) is to print the film. After molding and die cutting, the film is placed into a mold for injection molding, and the film and the injection molded product are tightly bonded under high temperature and high pressure. At present, IMF technology is mainly used in 3C products, automotive decoration, home appliances, medical equipment, measuring instruments and other fields, and has huge market potential.

In-mold labeling has always been the snow of the label industry, and it is a relatively easy technology to implement. IMR, IMF is what we want to learn, but it is difficult for many label printing companies. However, Taiwanese label printing companies have been able to successfully complete the IMR and IMF technologies, and as early as 2002 there were good products that successfully upgraded the traditional labels to precision components.

IMR and IMF technologies, for many label printing companies, are almost cross-cutting and need to be reinvested. In the face of an increasingly complex market situation, change is a risk and it is a must. Enterprises should make a change every two or three years, so that every supervisor is forced to learn new things. Every time a change is made, companies have better power.

2. Anti-counterfeit labels

Counterfeiting and anti-counterfeiting have always survived and developed in the fight against each other. Because of this, the market for anti-counterfeiting labels is good and the market positioning is high.

Figure 1 is a very popular label in Taiwan called the “set stickers”. In Taiwan’s 7-11 supermarkets, when consumers purchase goods that meet a certain amount, they can accumulate 1 point and get one. "Set stickers", when the number of points accumulated to a certain extent, you can receive a doll (small dolls), or buy goods. Of course, the pattern on the sticker can also be replaced with other ones, combined with the current theme of young people like to make, so that consumers are very happy, this is a marketing approach, is a new rule. What anti-counterfeiting technology does this sticker use? Temperature change ink, UV stealth ink, microtext, etc., point-line anti-counterfeiting technology are all used to prevent counterfeiting. This case also shows that label printing companies should be good at using innovative technologies and control systems to increase the value of their products and cater to certain marketing activities.

3. RFID tags

In fact, although the RFID tag is called an electronic tag, it can be used very simply by means of printing, anti-counterfeiting, etc. The picture shown in Figure 2 is an RFID tag designed by Taiwan Yongfengyu. This tag not only has reading and writing functions, but also uses anti-counterfeit shading, cold stamping, micro text, OVI color ink and other anti-counterfeiting technology to make a beautiful pattern, with high added value. At present, RFID tags developed by Taiwan Yongfengyu have a good market application, such as paper RFID tags developed for Puer Tea Cake in Yunnan Province.

The core technology for producing RFID tags is: design and printing of RFID antennas; application of related processing technologies and special materials; product development and market expansion; patent applications can be applied to improve the technical threshold. By understanding the process flow, we know that RFID tags are a label printing company can try to do, you can use printing to achieve more links, not just the surface of the printing, the antenna can also be used to solve the printing. This is a new market, new opportunities. Therefore, looking ahead, the label printing industry has infinite hope.
