Western color art schools have evolved from classical to abstract to abstract, with many influential masters, and Van Gogh and Mondrian are the two most representative examples worth repeating.

Van Gogh

Van Gogh (1853-1890) was a representative figure of the impressionist painter of the late 19th century. He lived only 37 years old, and some of his greatest works in his painting career were completed within a short period of five years from 1885 to 1890. Van Gogh did not receive any formal college education. He completely relied on his own interest in painting creation, and delved into sketches and color knowledge with his enthusiasm. He studied color art works such as the early impressionism and Japanese ukiyo-e paintings, and with a contrasting color combination, persistently depicted the natural scenery in his eyes, and gradually formed his own color language style. Van Gogh thinks that true painters paint according to what they themselves feel. In his opinion, color itself expresses something. Its color is a kind of color that is “filtered” through feelings. It is a kind of Humanized natural "color.

The "Fourteen Sunflowers" was the most successful work in the "Sunflower Series" one year before Van Gogh's death (1889). The sunflower in the picture is very viable, and Van Gogh's bedroom wall is painted with the same yellow paint. Therefore, the entire work is bright in color. The upper and lower color blocks of the vase are exactly opposite the color of the wall surface. A large area of ​​light yellow walls set off the sunflower flowers and fruits of medium-yellow, yellow-to-yellow and ripe brown, showing the beauty of life.
