Huangshan restores traditional crafts of “three six tables”

Huangshan District of Huangshan City is one of the main production areas of rice paper in China. The local folk inherits the traditional hand-made method of “36 tables”. Li Mingfa from Huangshan District, as the inheritor of the handmade craftsmanship, led the production team for more than three months and produced a batch of well-crafted "36 sheets of paper", which fully restored the traditional folk craftsmanship.

Li Mingfa used conventional pulping methods to beat green bamboo pulp with animal power and grinding, and changed the pulp fibers under the action of human hi-hat, eventually obtaining the desired pulp. Looking at the process, "three or six sheets of paper" and rice paper production are roughly the same, because of the production of different materials, the resulting paper is different. In order to protect and inherit this traditional hand-made craft, Huangshan District Culture Department produced a documentary and established a data database for this purpose.
