Austria launches nested production technology

Due to the introduction of the sleeve technology by the Austrian Lancome (SML) company, the film prize with high gloss, partial or complete rough surface, high transparency, low haze, no die fusion line and peeling effect like oranges became the European market standard.
Nested technology can produce 100-500μm thick polypropylene film, eliminating the existing film production methods - the thickness difference between the cast film and the extruded film. In addition, this film has a low degree of orientation and a small internal residual stress compared with the cast film.
In this new process, the vertical melt curtain cools between the seamless steel strip and the cooling roll on the horizontal stacking roll. Due to the low contact pressure, processors can obtain better performing films for packaging of food/water bottles, cosmetics, stationery and thermoformed products.
Lenzing is cooperating with a Japanese company to develop this type of technology. The Japanese company has already adopted this technology in more than 20 production lines in the Far East. Lenzing is currently promoting and developing this technology on polypropylene and other materials in the European and American markets.
