Introduction:

Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein containing four biotin binding sites, similar to avidin. The natural protein and carbohydrates isolated from the culture filtrate of Streptomyces avidinii have an acidic PI of 5.5 and a mass of 75 kDa. Streptomyces generally have less non-specific binding than avidin (egg white) due to lack of carbohydrates.

Our streptavidin resin (i.e. immobilized streptavidin product) uses a recombinant form of streptavidin with a mass of 53 kDa and near-neutral PI. These resins are prepared by covalently coupling Streptavidin to Porous Agarose or Biosupport ULTRALINK for use efficiency and stable chemicals, Streptavidin Agarose and ULTRALINK resin for leaching and stable pH 2-11. This product is an excellent choice for various small or large-scale affinity purification applications involving biotinylated macromolecular substances, including the separation of biotin molecules from samples and the use of biotin-labeled antibody antigen immunoprecipitation.
