The lock flower head refers to the process of replacing the plug cloth with silk rope on the upper and lower ends of the book back of the three-sided book block. Because the color of the wire rope used is generally two, it is called the lock flower head. The flower head locked out with silk rope is durable, beautiful and novel, unique, and can be matched with gold mouth and flower mouth books. The operation is divided into the following points.
â‘ Before the operation, cut the 1.5-2mm thick cardboard into square slats, the length of which is about 10mm longer than the arc of the back of the book or the width of the back of the book. Then put the wire rope with a diameter of 1-1.5mm on the needle and wait for use.
â‘¡When operating, first put a book block with rounded ridges (or square backs) upright, with the head or foot cuts facing up, and then place the flower head bones (cardboard strips) in the middle of the cuts and the back of the book In position, the ribs and bars are flush with the back of the book, then hold the ribs and bones with one hand, and use the needle with the silk thread to lock the flower head with the other hand.
Figure 8 Steps to lock the flower head
â‘¢ When locking the flower head, remove the needle from the first post of the book block (Figure 8-1), and thread it to the nearest needle-eye link of the stitching seam, pull the knot and tie another color of silk rope (do not wear Needle) and the threading rope of the needle thread and the cardboard screed lock to tighten the knot (Figure 8-2). Each time when 5 or 6 posts are locked, the stitching stitches are fastened and connected in parallel. When the last stitch is locked, still use the method of starting the head to fasten the stitching line of the last book block, and leave a rope head of about 10mm. After locking the flower head, cut off the extra ribs and strips at both ends To complete the operation process of locking the flower head (Figure 8-3, 8-4, 8-5).
The requirements for the lock flower head operation: a. The length of the wire rope used is freely selected as required, but there must be no joints on the flower head of a book; b. The disk system of the wire rope is tight and consistent. Etc. c. The width and thickness of the ribs and bars are the same, and there is no overflow, indentation and detachment at both ends after locking.
After the book block of the flower head is locked, the back cloth and the back paper are glued.
6. Sticky paper operation and requirements
Sticky tube paper refers to the process of sticking a tube of paper on the back of the book.
The role of the cardboard paper is to firmly connect the book block and the book cover, increase the strength of the back of the book, make the book stereotyped, not loose and deformed, and improve the appearance of the grade. Paperboard is generally used for round endorsements with a thickness of more than 30mm (available below 300mm).
â‘ Package paper materials and specifications
100g / m2 kraft paper is generally used for package paper. This kind of paper has good tensile strength, high strength, and strong application. Its length is 4mm shorter than the book block, and its width is twice the arc length of the book back, plus 5mm glue (Figure 9-1).

â‘¡Paper paste
First, apply adhesive to the cut mouth of the cut paper and make it into a tube shape (adhesive interface is on one side), then apply adhesive to all sides of the adhesive interface and apply it on the back of the book. , Sticky (Figure 9-2).

After sticking the paper, the whole process of book block modeling is completed. When the book block and the book cover are sleeved, the exposed side of the paper is coated with adhesive and bonded to the middle diameter paperboard of the book cover to complete the processing of the paper.
4 Luxury hardcover book cover processing
The processing of luxury hardcover book covers mainly includes chipboard edge, dermabrasion edge, backing waist material, hot red gold inlay, and bamboo joints.
1. Paperboard edge operation and requirements
In order to increase the artistic sense of the book cover, the cardboard with a thickness of more than 3mm can be trimmed at the front mouth.
During operation, the cardboard is cut to the front edge according to the specified size (more than 1-2mm), and then sharpened into various styles with a knife (Figure 10 shows four styles). When cutting the edge, it is required that the lower knife is not skewed accurately, the corners are smooth and the specifications of the cardboard are correct.

2. Dermabrasion operation and requirements
When using genuine leather as the cover, because the thickness of the genuine leather is thick, the three sides of the cover will protrude after the paste shell is wrapped, causing the book block to be uneven and imprinted, so the cover should be edged.
During operation, the leather surface cut according to certain specifications is ground with hard sandpaper to form a thin edge with a certain slope. The width of the edging is generally about 10mm.
3. Mounting operations and requirements
The cover of luxury clothes is usually made of silk fabrics such as colorful satin. In order to ensure that the fabric pattern is not deformed, shrunk, and easy to process, the fabric cover must be properly processed before processing. Generally, the large-format fabric cover and the paper are laminated together, or the cover is impregnated with resin, so that it is shrunk and shaped, and then the paste sealing operation is performed.
There are two ways to mount the surface: one is self-mounting, which is to apply large-size (usually full-open) paper (weight can be large or small, according to thickness requirements) after applying adhesive (gluten flour slurry is best) , Hang it on the paperboard, dampen the fabric and cover it with the paper coated with adhesive, and immediately smooth it and stick it firmly. After drying, remove the flattened clothing and then open the cover; the other is to mount with a machine, that is, processed by the laminating factory. The machine is glued and divided into roller type and flat type. Roll type is used in large quantities. Roll type is made of roll material for laminating and compounding; flat type is made of resin compound and flat and flat.
Operation requirements: a. The selected adhesive has appropriate viscosity, even application, no overflow and no flower, to ensure that the fabric after mounting is smooth and soft, without bubbles and wrinkles; b. The paper size and the composite size of the fabric are correct, and the fabric edge is not exposed. Does not curl.
4. Slub operation and requirements
Slub refers to the sculpting process of the shape of a bamboo swelled at the waist and back of the book cover. The function of the bamboo knot is to make the book beautiful and elegant, and to protect the waist of the book from being worn.
There are two ways to make the slub. One is to make the shell, that is, stick the knot on the middle-diameter cardboard and make the shell to extrude the slub; the other is to temporarily fix a middle-diameter cardboard on the back of the book block. After sticking the bamboo knot, and then covering the cover to extrude the knot (Figure 11-1). Regardless of which method is used, the book cover that is glued to the slub must be squeezed with a special tool on the slub at the middle waist, so that the slub protrudes and the shape is firm before the shell can be wrapped. The soft cover of the bamboo joint indicates that when cutting, its length (that is, the head and feet are long) should be about 7mm more than the size of the ordinary hardcover, leaving room for the squeeze joint, and it can protrude slightly at the upper and lower sides of the middle waist After the shell is finished, the protruding upper and lower sides should be buckled inwards to the plug cloth or the flower head line, so that the processed book looks different from the general hardcover book from the appearance, and it is quite artistic (Figure 11 -2).

5. Sticky paper
The inside paper refers to the paper that is stuck inside the edge of the book case. Its function is to cover the problem of unevenness of the edge caused by the thickness of the soft material on the cover. It can even the traces of the book block and make the book block flat. There are two specifications of the cover paper, one is the unlined root material specification, its size is the length of the book case minus two edging widths plus two cardboard thicknesses, and the width is the cardboard width minus one edging width plus One piece of cardboard is thick; the other is the specification with rooting material, the size and length of which are the same as the previous one, the width is the width of the cardboard minus one wrapping edge and the width of the rooting material plus one cardboard thickness. The thickness of the cover paper should be determined by the thickness of the soft material of the cover. Generally, more offset paper is used.
There are two methods during operation. One is to apply a thin layer of adhesive to the sealing paper cut to a certain specification, and then stick it in the edge of the pasted envelope; the other is not to paste first The shell, only leaving room for wrapping on the cut cardboard, apply the adhesive to the inside paper and stick it to the cardboard.
Requirements for adhesive backing paper: a. Adhesive with proper viscosity, little and even application, no overflow and no flower; b. Adhesive backing paper is not skewed, no wrinkle, no air bubbles; c. Adhesive backing paper must be sticky Flatten to ensure that it is flat and firm.
