MEET THE TUBULAR TREE HOUSE BY AIBEK ALMASSOV

MEET THE TUBULAR TREE HOUSE BY AIBEK ALMASSOV – At the heart of this innovative concept lies a fully enclosed mature fir tree, surrounded by a tubular glass structure envisioned by Kazakh architect Aibek Almassov. This architectural marvel might soon become a reality thanks to potential investors who have recently shown interest. Known as Tree in the House, the design by A Masow Architects aims to provide an escape from the oppressive urban environments dominated by "concrete jungles." Featuring a completely transparent cylindrical design, this house offers panoramic views of a forested landscape.

The initial investor commitment came in 2013, but unfortunately, they withdrew their support, leaving the project in limbo. However, a new opportunity has emerged with a company specializing in glass and solar panels expressing keen interest. As Almassov explained to Dezeen, "It's not technically challenging to construct; the real hurdle was finding an investor." He further mentioned, "We’ve already identified two potential investors. One owns a facility producing transparent solar panels, and they’re highly enthusiastic about this project."

The renders depict the tubular building nestled within a serene woodland clearing, with some upper levels reaching above the tree canopy. Although the project isn't tied to a specific location, its primary goal remains clear: offering an alternative to the chaos of city life. Almassov emphasized, "Our aim is to blend modern industrial design with the natural beauty and resources surrounding us." He added, "Importantly, it doesn’t harm the environment—it provides an opportunity to step away from the stifling cityscape and reconnect with nature."

The transparent walls and ceiling frame four narrow ring-shaped floors and a spiraling white staircase that encircles the tree trunk. Glazed balustrades with wooden handrails ensure unobstructed views on every level. Almassov described climbing the staircase as akin to progressing through stages of spiritual growth, harmony, and enlightenment. The renderings also show the tree branches gracefully extending toward the walls and roof, subtly integrating with the interior space.

An entirely glass shower unit echoes the circular design of the building, while free-standing furniture follows the curved walls. A.Masow Architects, based in Almaty, previously rendered a striking concrete house perched on a hillside in Kazakhstan. Similar to Tree in the House, their project named ImagineHouse also focused on isolating inhabitants from urban noise.

As someone who loves both architecture and nature, I found this project incredibly fascinating. It's not just about creating a living space; it's about immersing yourself in the natural world while still enjoying modern conveniences. I hope these investors come through because it would be amazing to see such a unique vision realized. Plus, who wouldn't want to live in a house where every room feels like you're part of the forest?
