PET Slip Additive

Croda claims that its recently developed PET smoothing additive, IncroMax PET100, can significantly improve surface lubricant performance in PET preforms and other PET forming processes. Product performance has been significantly improved and production efficiency has been greatly improved.

The research and development of this new type of additive product solves the problems of scratches, adhesions and static electricity due to the large surface friction of PET. This greatly reduces the surface quality of the formed parts, product packaging becomes difficult, and the normal operation of the production machinery is also affected to varying degrees. The use of IncroMax PET100 proves that it can significantly reduce the friction in the production process and the release force is reduced by 60%. This new PET slip additive distinguishes itself from similar products and does not have any visible effect on the color, clarity and physical properties of PET. Smaller friction reduces wear and scratches during the forming process, and automatic processing equipment is also easier to operate.

David Cherry, Director of Sales and Marketing at Croda Chemicals in Europe, said: “The traditional slip agent products such as amides cause yellowing or turbidity of the polymer. PET smoothing agent developed by Croda is a good help for manufacturers. This type of problem does not affect the color or the clarity of the formed product without giving full play to the efficacy of the lubricant."

According to relevant reports, more than 80% of the world's PET materials are widely used in the production of packaging and forming for various types of tubes, cups and dishes. Carbonated soft drinks and mineral water bottles are the main demand markets for PET packaging worldwide. The advent of Croda's patented additive products has made the entire PET production and forming process easier and smoother. It can be added to solid color masterbatch or it can be formulated into liquid colorants. The products are mainly used in the production of beverage bottles, housewares, cosmetic bottles, injection molded tubes, food packaging, PET films and extruded sheets.
