Their goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by around 2030, and by the end of 2020, all their glasses will be made from 100% bio acetateâ€”recyclable acetate blended with bio-based plasticizers instead of petroleum-based ones. Plasticiet, co-founded by designers Marten van Middelkoop and Joost Dingemans, takes great care in collecting plastic waste and transforming it into usable sheets resembling traditional stones like marble and granite. For the Antwerp store of Ace & Tate, they created a stunning terrazzo effect featuring large chips of bright blue, red, green, and yellow hues.

Plasticiet mentioned that all the plastic used came from the local area, and they carefully selected pieces to create an appealing color palette, utilizing nearly 1,000 kilograms for the project. Their dedication to this initiative is clearâ€”the plastic terrazzo panels cover the walls, arches, shelves, and counters of the store. The recycling process is visually represented through display boxes for the glasses and sunglasses, creating an attractive and informative window display.
