The particles are similar in structure to the virus, contain no viral nucleic acid, and are not infectious. After immunizing mice with VLP, CA16-specific serum IgG antibodies were produced. The in vitro neutralization test showed that VLP immune serum can effectively inhibit the infection of homologous and heterologous CA16 viruses. Further animal challenge experiments have shown that anti-VLP serum has a good protective effect against lethal doses of homologous or heterologous CA16 virus challenge.
