Cemented carbide reamer bonding technology

The blades of cemented carbide reamers are thin and long. If they are welded, they will cause deformation, cracks, and even tool scrap. In addition, the reamer is a precision tool of a specified size, wear reaches a certain limit, the entire tool will be scrapped. Adhesive bonding can avoid the influence of high temperature during welding and increase the service life of the blade. The blade and cutter bar can be used multiple times. The cutting condition of the reamer is: cutting allowance (diameter) 0.20-0.25mm, and the feed amount is 0.2- 0.4mm/r, cutting speed 3-9m/min. The tool is made so that the depth of the insert pocket is approximately equal to 1/2-1/3 of the thickness of the insert.

Adhesive process is as follows:

(1) The blade and cutter bar are first washed with ethanol and then with acetone to remove dirt and oxides.

(2) Epoxy adhesive (Formulation: E-44 or E-51 Epoxy 100, H-4 Epoxy Curing Agent 70-80, 201-1 Polysulfide Rubber 15-25).

(3) Evenly apply the adhesive to the blade and sipe, then install the positioning and pressurize it 0.1-0.2MPa.

(4) Curing in a greenhouse for 24 hours, then placing in an oven at 60-80° C. for 4-6 hours. After being taken out, it is naturally cooled to complete the bonding.

(5) After the blades are worn, they can be placed in the engine oil and heated to 150-180°C. Remove the blades and clean them while hot. After cleaning the bottom of the knife slot, add a piece of 0.2mm metal piece and glue it again according to the above process. In this way, it can be reused multiple times.
