Network printing with 140 integrated solutions

The Networked Graphic Production Alliance has announced that it now has more than 140 comprehensive solution offerings, enabling seamless flow of job and production data throughout the production process. These solutions connect different vendors' prepress, management information system (MIS), printing and postpress systems and enable data flow between them. More than 50% of the JDF cross-platform solutions at drupa 2004 included them. At the Graph Expo 2004 show, the Network Printing Alliance demonstrated the JDF integration capabilities on-site.

Network Printing was initiated by 46 industry-leading suppliers and aims to achieve seamlessly integrated solutions to increase customer efficiency and profitability.

The 140 comprehensive, cross-platform solutions use the JDF (CIP4) solution. These integrated solutions include prepress, production planning, MIS, prepress and postpress solutions that allow job and production data to flow freely throughout the production process, which will enable printers to increase profits, reduce costs, and Realize instant communication between digital printing and offset printing, as well as MIS and designers.

Five members of the networked printing group - Quark, Creo, Manroland, Prism and Xerox - will display JDF integration capabilities at the 700-square-foot Web-based print booth (Booth #1017), October 10, 2004. No. to No. 13. The Networked Print Alliance system will then be connected to demonstrate how JDF workflows in networked printing can enhance printer business by creating efficient, optimized and cooperative digital production environments.

System integration creates value for printing companies

After Drupa 2004, 40% of the solutions in the networked printing system were installed or officially launched around the world. Lane Press in South Burlington has benefited from a networked printing environment. From the creative department to customer service to the prepress shop, the factory's production processes are automated. Phillip Drumheller, president of Lane Press Printing, said that networked printing can make the printing process very smooth. "One of the benefits of JDF technology is that we only need to enter a key job data. Different systems can share the same data. Our efficiency has been greatly improved and the processing is fully automated."

Colio, Hiflex and Manroland in the Network Printing Alliance have teamed up to provide this solution to the Lane Press printer and its customers. Lane Press Printing saves time without added value in the printing. The delivery of content is completely automated and is sent electronically. Automatic file generation reduces the key setting by 50%. In order to get more value from a networked printing environment, Lane Press plans to add new solutions in the postpress and shipping systems in the future.

About Network Printing Solutions

The goal of NGP's networked printing organization is to increase efficiency through automated, integrated, and cross-vendor collaboration of production operations. Based on the JDF standard, define a set of standard NGP interfaces to make this goal possible. Thanks to the JDF interface, each NGP partner solution can be connected to each other, thus creating an integrated solution that allows job and production data to be transferred seamlessly throughout the production process.
