New generation of sublimation transfer ink

Dye sublimation printing is one of the most popular product decoration methods because it is a versatile and usable process.

In the 1950s, Europe developed a dye sublimation printing process, which was considered a relatively new process at the time. In fact, it belongs to a transfer process rather than a direct printing process, although dye sublimation printing can be accomplished by conventional screen printing, a direct printing method. On the other hand, with the continuous development of technology, it is now possible to print images on the transfer paper that exceed the color gamut of the four-color version without the need for film, stencil, and various print job preparations.

The digital sublimation transfer printing can be successfully transferred once, without consuming a large amount of ink, which saves time and saves money. When the transfer is performed, for example, transfer to a Fabric, the substrate is subjected to a high temperature of 2100C on the transfer machine for a time of 3Os (seconds) to complete the transfer. In this process, the dye changes from solid to gas and then back to solid.

The greatest advantage of dye sublimation transfer is that the dye can enter the fibers of the polyester or fabric. In screen printing, the solvent or plastic ink forms the ink layer on the surface of the fabric. Therefore, the printed product after sublimation and transfer printing is very soft, and basically does not feel the presence of the ink layer. In addition, since the ink is dried during the transfer process, the life of the image is as long as the life of the garment itself.

Today, sublimation transfer inks have been able to print very thin ink layers on any product, and the number of prints is not limited. Since sublimation dyes are 100% organic dyes, the dyes can diffuse in water, and the inks can be transferred only by heating, which means that in the digital dye sublimation transfer, no chemical agent is used on the human body. And the environment is not poisoned.

The only disadvantage of sublimation transfer is that the choice of color is limited and it is difficult to match the Pantone color standard. In order to overcome this defect, Sabina International of the United Kingdom has recently developed a new sublimation transfer ink, Dyestar, which has been gradually completed after more than 2 years. Its introduction provides a technologically advanced technology for the ink market. Ink system.

Ink matching

Dyestar ink series includes the following: CMYK - for small digital printers or most four-color printing process; CMYK plus LM and LC six-color system - color gamut than traditional CMYK plus orange and green six colors The system is wider; there is also a Hexachrome six-color system with an orange and blue color, which is characterized by its ability to match deep blue. The above several ink systems can meet the various needs of users.

Special transfer machine

Sabina International also specializes in digital printing equipment for the dye sublimation process, which is based on the original printing press for maximum productivity. The current production speed has reached more than 10m2/h. The newly-remodeled sublimation transfer press has added a transport device capable of loading 6×1kg ink tanks. Each color ink can be supplied directly and independently. On the output side of the printing press, a drying device was added. After the dye sublimation ink was dried, the printing product was automatically wound on a reel located under the drying box. The modified transfer machine is compact, fast and durable. Its feed device can carry a roll of 50-meter-long transfer paper. After printing and drying, the printed product is automatically wound on a spare shaft. This operation does not require special training technicians.

About software

In the past three years, Sabina International has partnered with a large European software company to develop a state-of-the-art RIP platform for digital presses. RIP software can be used for most local area networks, servers and standalone PCs for various types of textile printing. In addition, unlike most other RIP software and hardware, this software can calculate and control Hexachrome and other six-color systems. Sabina International plans to introduce three new types of ink this year. One is the Acid Dye standard four-color ink, the other is a six-color system containing light cyan and light magenta, and the other is a digital printing plastic ink. `
