Coated card CKB-HX cardboard made from 100% primary pulp

Due to the relatively heavy industrial bearings, the load-bearing requirements of the packaging board are very high. In order to avoid the penetration of oil into the pores of the packaging material, the cardboard must also have a dense barrier layer. The best solution is to use Stora Enso's high density polymer (HDPE) coated CKB board specially developed for this purpose and use Absorbex kraft paper in the inner layer of the package. The packaging combination of CKB-HX plus Absorbex kraft paper is also very suitable for other industrial packaging applications where the compactness, strength and absorbency of packaging materials are demanding.

Stora Enso has introduced to the machinery manufacturing industry a coated calf CKB-HX board made of 100% natural pulp, which is currently used by SKF, a famous bearing manufacturer, to package ball bearings.

Ulric Nilsson, SKF's sales manager, explained: “Bearings will leak a little during storage. Over the years, the oil on the packaging has been very difficult to handle. We urgently need to find a new type of packaging material that has a very strong absorption capacity. The outer package is clean and free from oil."
